Target group

For personnel who are required to perform a test for oxygen, flammable and toxic gases up to and including working in confined spaces. Those undertaking this training will be assessed against all of AGT 1

Objectives

This course is primarily theory based, and is online.

• Selection, care and use of PPE for gas testing
• Types of fixed, portable and personal monitors
• Statutory requirements (HASAWA, Confined Space Regulations, ACOP)
• Implications of EH40 document (Workplace Exposure Limits)
• Hazards associated with toxic, flammable and oxygen deficient/enriched atmospheres
• Working with permits, ICCs and entry certificates
• Behaviour of different gases
• Principals of gas testing in confined spaces
• Range and frequency of tests and acceptable limits
• How to document results and advise relevant personnel
