Target group

This course is designed to meet the initial live practice onshore training and assessment requirements for Offshore Emergency Response Team Leaders as identified in the UKOOA Guidelines for Competence and Training in Emergency Response, to enable them to join and lead offshore Emergency Response Teams for installation-specific duties, training and development.

Objectives

The course consists of theoretical input and practical exercises developed to measure competence relating to the key learning outcomes of the OPITO standard for Emergency Response Team Member initial training.

  • Practical exercises 75%

Prerequisites

Delegates must hold a valid OPITO Offshore Emergency Response Team Member.

Contents

The course consists of practical and theoretical training and knowledge of:

  • The role of the Fire Team Leader Offshore emergency response activities
  • The requirement to initiate servicing of equipment and to replenish stocks
  • Maintaining communications
  • Allocating and confirming the team’s duties and tasks Monitoring the team’s progress; evaluating, adjusting and communicating the response plan Monitoring stress in self and others
  • Debriefing the team.
