Target Group The target group for the OFERTL Further Training are existing site fire/emergency team leaders that are required to revalidate their OPITO OFERTL certification by completing training scenarios which they are

unable undertake at site.

Prerequisites Delegates must possess any one of the following:

a)  A valid OPITO Onshore Fire/Emergency Response Team Leader certificate

A valid OPITO Onshore Fire/Emergency Response Team Leader Further Training certificate

Objective The aim and objectives of the OFERTL Further Training Programme are to allow Onshore Fire/Emergency Response Team Leader delegates to practice and be assessed on live fire exercises which they would not be

able to conduct in the workplace.

Contents
  • Briefing and debriefing the ER team effectively on the incident
  • Directing the ER team’s duties and tasks effectively
  • Leading the ER team effectively during the emergency response Maintaining relevant communications, to include team and emergency response room manager/commander communications
  • Controlling and monitoring the team’s progress
  • Evaluating, adjusting and communicating the response plan to the team and the emergency response room manager/commander
  • Monitoring stress in the team and taking appropriate action where required
  • On completion of the exercise, confirming and checking that the emergency situation is under control and ER team and relevant personnel are accounted for.
