Target Group This training is designed for currently appointed OPITO-certified HERTMs that are required to revalidate their OPITO HERTM certification by refreshing and updating their knowledge and skills in aspects of their role that they cannot practice in the workplace.
Prerequisites a)  A valid OPITO Helideck Emergency Response Team Member Training Certificate

OR

A valid OPITO HERTM Further Training Certificate.
Objective The aim of this HERTM Further Training Programme is to give HERTM’s the opportunity to practice and maintain the skills required when dealing with helicopter emergency response situations or incidents as members of an Offshore Helideck Emergency Response Team, in aspects of their

role which they cannot reasonably practise offshore.
Contents
  • Helideck ER team priorities during an emergency Firefighting system; fixed and mobile
  • Review requirements for pre-use checks, donning and use of breathing apparatus
  • Search and rescue on the helideck and inside the helicopter Casualty management.
  • Human factors during emergency response including stress affecting decision making, physical limitations and sources of assistance available during emergency events
  • Awareness and understanding of back up crew during protracted incident.
  • HERTM Further practical training in emergency response
